Stuck in the mail, hope it doesn’t get stuck in the mail

Then the mail comes through
Years down the road when you have another man’s child

And I have a hardened man’s heart
A reminder of young lovers’ dreams, lofty without reason
That’s the beauty it beams, borrowing each other’s heart for a time
And passing it around exclaiming partial ownership

And when I sent word, I was this man on his high horse
Sitting pretty, pretty with a wife making her course...to me.
And having sent word long ago, I hate the call to vitality
And it’s claims to stardom.

It’s a hang-up can’t seem to hang
It’s a sprain can’t seem to shake
It’s a game can’t seem to beat
It’s a head can’t seem to step on

So all this going on would make think
That things in time begin to sink
And like buoyancy would teach
Filling lungs that keep afloat, beg to sing
Of a boat that is about to come
And lift it out to tend to parity and above.
